🌲 Camp Grady Spruce 🌲

Each fall, all Dealey 6th graders head to Dealey’s Environmental Enrichment Program (DEEP) for four days of outdoor education on the shores of Possum Kingdom Lake. The camp is run by the YMCA and designed to enrich the school curriculum in a fun, natural setting. The Dealey PTA partially subsidizes the experience to make it affordable for families.

🎯 Program Goals:

  • Environment – Help students understand and experience the relationship between themselves and their environment.

  • Academics – Support all the components of the student’s curriculum: science, social studies, math, language arts, music, and other outdoor connections.

  • Success – Provide positive, non-graded learning experiences.

  • Self – Help students understand and experience the relationship with themselves and to develop self-confidence, self-respect, and an appreciation of their worth as individuals.

  • Social – Strengthen social relationships through respect for others, cooperation, and friendship.

  • Fun – To have a safe, fun, and memorable experience.

The 2025 – 2026 year marks the 30th anniversary of Dealey’s 6th graders attending Camp Grady Spruce—a tradition that combines outdoor adventure with hands-on learning!
